from Sam Houston State University, as well as Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music. She also earned a Junior Specialist degree in Piano Performance from the Glière Kyiv Institute of Music.
Alona Khoptynets performs widely throughout the United States, Europe, and Ukraine as a soloist and chamber musician. She is a prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, including 5th International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists (Ukraine), Emil Rotundu Canto & Piano International Competition (Romania), Talents of the 21st Century (Bulgaria), Constanța International Competition – Festival for Young Pianists (Romania), Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition (Italy), The Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition (Spain), and Sam Houston State University Concerto Competition (Huntsville, TX). She has also received the Scholarship of the President of Ukraine for Young Artists and Musicians along with multiple academic and artistic scholarships in the United States.
As a collaborative pianist, Alona has worked extensively with vocalists, instrumentalists, choirs, and university faculty in the United States and Europe. Her professional appointments have included graduate assistant positions at the 2 University of Houston and Sam Houston State University, as well as staff accompanist positions at the Glière Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music and Brovary Music School in Ukraine.
An active educator, Alona Khoptynets has more than a decade of teaching experience working with students of diverse ages and levels. She served as a Piano Instructor at Bridges Academy of Fine Arts and International Music Academy in Houston, TX. She has previously taught Class Piano courses at Sam Houston State University. Her teaching emphasizes technical excellence, artistic expression, music theory, ear training, and the development of confident, well-rounded musicians.
An advocate for Ukrainian music, Alona Khoptynets regularly presents lecture recitals and conference presentations highlighting Ukrainian piano, chamber, and vocal repertoire. Her work has been featured at national and international conferences and festivals, including the International Music by Women Festival, the Texoma NATS Regional Conference, and the Texas Music Teachers Association State Convention.
Ukrainian pianist Alona Khoptynets maintains an active career as a soloist, collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and educator. She is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano at the University of Houston – Moores School of Music. Alona holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance
