About Mr. Anderson

Chaequan Anderson is a choral conductor and music educator with over a decade of experience working across school, community, youth, collegiate, and professional choral settings. He has held teaching and conducting positions with Princeton Girlchoir, Princeton Boychoir, Trenton Children’s Chorus, Westminster Conservatory, The College of New Jersey, and Westminster Choir College. As a guest conductor and clinician, he has worked with honor, festival, and all-state ensembles throughout the United States, including in Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania.

For nearly ten years, Anderson served as Director of Middle School Choirs at Montclair Kimberley Academy, where he built a vibrant and inclusive choral program grounded in musical excellence and student-centered learning. He currently serves as Associate Director of Westrick Music Academy, where he conducts Cantores (grades 10–12) of the Princeton Girlchoir and Cantus and Cantus Chamber Singers (grades 4–9) of the Princeton Boychoir. He is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the Glassbrook Vocal Ensemble, a professional choir based in Ewing, New Jersey, and serves as Inclusivity Chair for the New Jersey State Board of the American Choral Directors Association.

In higher education, Anderson has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Vocal Studies and Interim Conductor of the Westminster Jubilee Singers at Westminster Choir College. He also serves as Adjunct Instructor of Choral Music Education at The College of New Jersey, where he teaches Secondary Choral Methods and conducts Collegium Musicum, a chamber choir dedicated to unaccompanied vocal repertoire spanning the Renaissance to the present day.

Anderson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Kodály Levels I and II certification from Westminster Choir College and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Rutgers University, where he was a recipient of the Robert E. Mortensen Endowed Fellowship. He is currently a Doctoral Fellow in Music Education at Temple University. His research interests center on secondary choral music education, with particular emphasis on adolescent vocal development, choral pedagogy, curriculum development, and the preparation of preservice music educators.

His professional affiliations include the American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Organization of American Kodály Educators, National Association of Negro Musicians, and New Jersey Music Educators Association.
