Our Choirs

Concert Choir

The Concert Choir is an advanced choir, open to boys and girls grades 5th - 12th, by invitation only from the Artistic Director. The repertoire is challenging, including four-part harmony and multiple foreign languages. Musicianship training continues to build strong vocal and sight-reading skills. Singers receive over 150 hours of instruction as they intensively prepare for the many performances of the season.

Concert Choir singers are focused young adults who are adept music readers and capable of singing their own parts independently. Performances include seasonal concerts and with local and national guest artists. The choir may also represent Jacksonville at various community events or travel to perform outside of Jacksonville.

Auditions are held by appointment May through July or August for the following school year. Due to extensive repertoire and choreography, a week-long camp is held in late July/August in preparation for the upcoming season.

There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

“The Chorus expands your musical horizons and helps you grow as a person. You are surrounded with other young people who have something in common…their love of music. I have learned that music does, indeed, bring people and cultures together. The music we sing brings people hope for a better future of understanding and cooperation.”

Jasmine M., JCC Alum

“Music plays a major role in the full development of a child. Not only does it enrich lives, it also serves as a pathway for students to express themselves and explore new ways to communicate with others. For 20 years, kudos to the JCC for molding the lives of young artists, and I look forward to the next 20 years.”

Tim Cost, President, Jacksonville University

“JCC truly embodies some of the best qualities of team sports: camaraderie, discipline, patience, persistence, and positive mentoring.”

Wali Gomes, JCC Parent

“Being a part of the JCC has not only allowed Christian to experience the fun, excitement and pleasure of singing with friends, it has also helped him to develop a sense of confidence that comes from life skills of hard work and perseverance.”

Elaine Bourne, JCC Parent

“It is gratifying the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus program covers so much of what is not available to children in the Duval Public Schools. The children who have an opportunity to participate in your Chorus are very fortunate to have this outstanding musical training available to them. The entire community benefits from your talent and that of the children.”
