Our Choirs

Young Men's Chorus

The Young Men’s Chorus serves young men ages 13-18 who have entered the voice expansion phase and who desire to continue singing. We welcome fathers and male guardians of the young men to participate in rehearsals.

The purpose of the program is to create opportunity for a previously under-served group in Northeast Florida—young males experiencing voice expansion. The goal is to assist young male singers in a smoother transition to adulthood during an awkward phase of growing up by participating in a chorus designed especially for them. Rehearsals are held during the school year.

Auditions are held by appointment May through August for the following school year. There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

“It is gratifying the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus program covers so much of what is not available to children in the Duval Public Schools. The children who have an opportunity to participate in your Chorus are very fortunate to have this outstanding musical training available to them. The entire community benefits from your talent and that of the children.”

Dr. Frances B. Kinne, Chancellor Emeritus and Past President, Jacksonville University

“Music plays a major role in the full development of a child. Not only does it enrich lives, it also serves as a pathway for students to express themselves and explore new ways to communicate with others. For 20 years, kudos to the JCC for molding the lives of young artists, and I look forward to the next 20 years.”

Tim Cost, President, Jacksonville University

“Through music and your leadership, these children learn to perform in different languages while experiencing the diversity of an array of world cultures. The understanding they gain will serve them well as they enter adulthood.”

R. Randall Onstead, former President/CEO of Winn-Dixie

“I was in the Jacksonville Children's Chorus in 1999-2002. It helped me to build long lasting friendships and a greater love for music. To this day I still remember the fun times and great concerts we did in the JCC. I think this organization is great for children of all ages, it helps build confidence and friendships.”

Bethany, Former Member

“Being a part of the JCC has not only allowed Christian to experience the fun, excitement and pleasure of singing with friends, it has also helped him to develop a sense of confidence that comes from life skills of hard work and perseverance.”

Elaine Bourne, JCC Parent
