Our Choirs

Treble Choir

The Treble Choir is open to boys and girls in sixth through twelfth grades who perform at an intermediate level or are advancing Training Choir members. Singers receive 60 hours of instruction focusing on healthy vocal production and the development of music reading skills through unison, two-part, and even three-part literature. Aural skills are strengthened through the use of ear training, solfege and sight-reading exercises.

The choir works with music chosen for singers of this age which may contain challenges like a foreign language – it’s also fun! Singers perform several times during the year, including major seasonal concerts and other community performances.

Auditions are held by appointment May through August for the following school year. There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

“The Chorus expands your musical horizons and helps you grow as a person. You are surrounded with other young people who have something in common…their love of music. I have learned that music does, indeed, bring people and cultures together. The music we sing brings people hope for a better future of understanding and cooperation.”

Jasmine, 16, Touring and Concert Choirs

“Through music and your leadership, these children learn to perform in different languages while experiencing the diversity of an array of world cultures. The understanding they gain will serve them well as they enter adulthood.”

R. Randall Onstead, former President/CEO of Winn-Dixie

“The JCC is more than just a chorus; it is truly a life-changing experience. The Chorus has opened me to new experiences, provided me with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and helped me discover singing is not just one of my interests but rather a lifelong passion.”

Emma, 17, Touring and Concert Choirs

“JCC truly embodies some of the best qualities of team sports: camaraderie, discipline, patience, persistence, and positive mentoring.”

Wali Gomes, JCC Parent

“I was in the Jacksonville Children's Chorus in 1999-2002. It helped me to build long lasting friendships and a greater love for music. To this day I still remember the fun times and great concerts we did in the JCC. I think this organization is great for children of all ages, it helps build confidence and friendships.”

Bethany, Former Member
