Our Choirs

Touring Choir

The Touring Choir is for advanced singers ages 12-18. Twenty-four singers may be selected for this choir annually. Our premier performing group offers a stimulating, comprehensive and demanding choral repertoire requiring advanced musical skills. Although facilitated by the Artistic Director, Touring Choir singers research and select music to study and perform, conduct their own rehearsals and seek and evaluate performance opportunities.

In keeping with the nature of the music this group performs, Touring Choir exchanges the traditional Children’s Chorus red vests and blazers for a more sophisticated look. Also, a vocal coach/teacher and choreographer participate in developing skills as needed.

The Touring Choir participates in local, national and international tours. The 2014 Mediterranean Tour included performances at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and with the Corfu Children's Choir in Corfu, Greece. The 2015 tour took the singers to New York City, New England and Canada. In 2016, the choir performed in Northern European countries of Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Finland and Russia. In the summer of 2017, the group will be touring and performing in Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Malta and Croatia. In the winter of 2018, they will be traveling to Rome to sing in St. Peter's Basillica once again, this time performing during a Papal Mass.

Auditions are held by appointment May through July* for the following school year.

There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

*This timeframe may vary depending on the season schedule to allow ample time for preparation.

“It is gratifying the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus program covers so much of what is not available to children in the Duval Public Schools. The children who have an opportunity to participate in your Chorus are very fortunate to have this outstanding musical training available to them. The entire community benefits from your talent and that of the children.”

Dr. Frances B. Kinne, Chancellor Emeritus and Past President, Jacksonville University

“Being a part of the JCC has not only allowed Christian to experience the fun, excitement and pleasure of singing with friends, it has also helped him to develop a sense of confidence that comes from life skills of hard work and perseverance.”

Elaine Bourne, JCC Parent

“Music is such a valuable part of life. The way it enriches one’s life and encourages creativity, I do not believe anything else can do as much. We in Jacksonville are certainly blessed to have the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.”

Scott C. Snyder, President, Compass Consulting Group

“The Chorus expands your musical horizons and helps you grow as a person. You are surrounded with other young people who have something in common…their love of music. I have learned that music does, indeed, bring people and cultures together. The music we sing brings people hope for a better future of understanding and cooperation.”

Jasmine, 16, Touring and Concert Choirs

“I was in the Jacksonville Children's Chorus in 1999-2002. It helped me to build long lasting friendships and a greater love for music. To this day I still remember the fun times and great concerts we did in the JCC. I think this organization is great for children of all ages, it helps build confidence and friendships.”
