Audition

Do you know a child who loves to sing?

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity and readiness. Singers do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The 15-minute audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune and to hold one’s voice part against others. Here's a little video preview of the audition process.

Auditions are held by appointment in May through August for the following school year and in December through early January for the spring semester based on availability.  For singers who will enter kindergarten and first grade - no audition is necessary - please register for Primary Choir here.

There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need. Tuition is charged to cover a portion of the actual cost of the program.

Please select a chorus and  CLICK THE LINK TO THE FORM BELOW to schedule an audition. An email response will include a selection of upcoming audition dates. Have more questions? Contact the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus at (904) 353-1636, ext. 1 or email us

“JCC truly embodies some of the best qualities of team sports: camaraderie, discipline, patience, persistence, and positive mentoring.”

Wali Gomes, JCC Parent

“The Chorus expands your musical horizons and helps you grow as a person. You are surrounded with other young people who have something in common…their love of music. I have learned that music does, indeed, bring people and cultures together. The music we sing brings people hope for a better future of understanding and cooperation.”

Jasmine, 16, Touring and Concert Choirs

“Music is such a valuable part of life. The way it enriches one’s life and encourages creativity, I do not believe anything else can do as much. We in Jacksonville are certainly blessed to have the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.”

Scott C. Snyder, President, Compass Consulting Group

“I was in the Jacksonville Children's Chorus in 1999-2002. It helped me to build long lasting friendships and a greater love for music. To this day I still remember the fun times and great concerts we did in the JCC. I think this organization is great for children of all ages, it helps build confidence and friendships.”

Bethany, Former Member

“Through music and your leadership, these children learn to perform in different languages while experiencing the diversity of an array of world cultures. The understanding they gain will serve them well as they enter adulthood.”

R. Randall Onstead, former President/CEO of Winn-Dixie
